Dr Aaron Naden (Scientific Officer)

Dr Aaron Naden

Aaron completed his Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow in 2015 in electron and scanning probe microscopies. In 2016 he started a postdoc at Queen’s University Belfast before joining the University of St Andrews in 2018 to continue his postdoctoral work in electron microscopy of advanced functional materials. A list of publications can be found on his University webpage and at ORCiD. E-mail: [email protected]

Dr David Lloyd (Electron Microscopist, Research Fellow)

Dr. David LloydDr. David Lloyd completed his PhD in 2018 at the University of York, his research focused on the dynamic behaviour of Nickel and Palladium catalysts under reducing and oxidising environments using in-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In 2019 he moved to Japan to take up a postdoctoral post at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST). Here his work involved the growth and characterisation of novel 2D van der Waals materials. Then, in 2021 he returned to York as a postdoc on a Japanese funded project to investigate interfacial structure of novel Heusler alloys for use in magnetoresistive junctions. Dr Miroslawa Pawlyta (Electron Microscopist, Research Fellow)

Dr. Mirka PawlytaMirka completed her Ph.D. at the University of Silesia in 2007, her research were focused on  carbon black and airborne soot structure investigated by TEM, XRD and Raman spectroscopy. In 2009 she started a postdoc at Silesian University of Technology. Her work involved:
•    Materials characterization by advanced analytical TEM methods, to investigate the relationship between materials properties and microstructure;
•    Structural analysis of carbon materials;
•    Synthesis, characterization and durability evaluation of nanocatalysts;
•    Analysis of the degradation phenomena of nanostructural materials.
